POKEMON’S BASICS

What is Pokemon Sword and Shield?

Pokemon is an RPG type game created by Satoshi Tajiri and released in 1996. The aim of the game will be to find new Pokemon (creatures of the world). You will therefore have to capture Pokemon and make them fight in order to gain experience. You will then go from city to city in which you will have champions to fight. Once all the badges have been collected, you can take on the “Pokemon League”, the most powerful trainers in the world.

Pokemon have types?

Pokemon have types – Pokemon fall into different groups of things called types. Each type has weaknesses and resistance to the other types. Here is a table to view the effects of each type in relation to each other:

Your team can have a maximum of six pokemon. It is strongly advised to make a balanced team, trying to overcome the weaknesses of each. You will be able to beat anyone, since your wide range of choices will allow you to exploit the weaknesses of your opponents. The lines represent the defensive types and the columns the offensive types.

What is an evolution?

But that’s not all. Your pokemon must also be powerful. For this, they must level up, which will lead to a general increase in their characteristics (attack, defense, hit points, etc.).

It is therefore essential to never run away from fights, and to face as many trainers as possible. Defeating them even earns you money, which is important if you want to do some shopping. Once your Pokémon has become powerful enough, it can then evolve to become even more powerful.

CHOOSE YOUR STARTING POKEMON WELL

Each Pokemon game has its new generation and its “Starter” Pokemon. This means that you will find new creatures with each game and will have to choose the first Pokemon that will accompany you at the start of the game. You will have the choice between Ouistempo of Plant type, Flambino of Fire type and finally Larmeleon of Water type.

You are free to keep it on your team or replace it. Depending on your choice, the game can be more or less difficult. In Pokemon Sword and Shield, you will first need to collect the Plant Badge.

Fire type Pokemon will therefore be very powerful against the opponents that you will come across at the start of the game. If you choose Flambino, you will have a clear advantage. With Ouistempo you will not suffer any penalty. Conversely, Larméléon will be of almost no use to you during this first arena. However, keep in mind that you can capture new Pokemon and build a good team before facing Percy, the first Arena Champion.

CAPTURE NEW POKEMON

You will be able to capture only wild Pokemon which will be on the roads, plains and lands of Pokemon Sword and Shield, it will be impossible for you to capture a Pokémon belonging to a trainer.

However, you will be able to trade in order to complete your Pokedex (Game Encyclopedia) and thus obtain both Pokemon exclusive to the Sword and Shield version.

To capture a Pokemon, you will first need to start a fight against the Pokemon in question. Then use one or more attacks to lower your health bar. You can also alter it by sleeping or paralyzing it for example in order to lower its resistance even more. Then go to your inventory and choose a Poké Ball to capture the Pokemon in question.
